There's the possibility that Star Trek 4 has hit a bump in the road this week. It was announced that the films’ director, SJ Clarkson, is directing the upcoming HBO Game of Thrones prequel series.
Clarkson had been in line to direct the fourth feature in the rebooted franchise of films and would have been the first woman to ever direct a Star Trek film.
It was also reported last August that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have been unable to resolve an ongoing contract issue.
However, the franchise continues to grow with season two of Star Trek: Discovery airing this month, as well as an untitled series where Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Captain Picard airing some time in 2019.
Alex Kurtzman told The Hollywood Reporter that there will be a “minimum of two” animated series. Lower Decks, a series to be developed by Rick and Morty producer Mike McMahan, as well as another show will be airing in the future.
If that’s not enough, there is also another show in the works centring around Starfleet Academy and will be produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
