Stewart hints Picard show could last three seasons

CBS

Speaking on the red carpet in London ahead of his latest film The Kid Who Would Be King, Sir Patrick Stewart give some more teasing details of the latest Star Trek show to feature on CBS.

The show will be set 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis and it has been hinted that the events leading up to the 2009 film will be an influence. Stewart has revealed that we expect things to be different.

In returning to Star Trek later in the year, the one thing that will be different about this version of Star Trek is that we have simply moved the whole narrative 20 years from when I last wore Jean-Luc’s uniform. So, everything has aged. When the series gets released you will see things are very different from what they were.

Stewart was also asked about his fellow Star Trek: The Next Generation cast members, as well as the fans.

It gives me profound satisfaction to hear from people what an impact my role and the series had on their lives. I have heard truly extraordinary stories about how people were affected by it. That makes me very proud for all of us who were in it, because they were a great company – are a great company!

When asked whether a film was on the cards, Stewart was a little more cagey suggesting that the series is taking priority for now.

Oh lord, we are set up for possibly three years of this show, so if there is a film, it’s a long way off.
